Mountain Arnica
The tall yellow Arnica montana is one of the many medicinal native plants growing in the highlands.
Blooms in October till November.
I designed this website to post images of the many endangered species of the native highland flora.
The images on this page were taken in 2006.
I took many more photos of the native flora in 2010-11, and will post them soon.
A few more can be seen on the last page 'News from Sieglinde'

Flowers that were blooming in Spring:
mid October to end of November 2006
On this particular trip to Brazil it was not my purpose to photograph flowers, but it seems that there was an unusual large variety of native flora in bloom. These photos were not taken on planned photo shoots, but I had only fifteen minutes here and there, on the way to visit my sick mother, and other business on my agenda, to take some photos. And this was only possible due to the generosity of friends and relatives that would stop on the way, giving me a chance to take some shots. On the whole, I spent only about four hours for about 300 shots. Next time I will take my closeup lens.
These images show in what surroundings the flowers grow , and it is amazing to see that the same plant grows just as well on rocky soil, as in meadows.

October 3, 2010
After some hot and sunny days, the temperature dropped to rainy 16 degree Celsius - still, the sagelike aromatic spikes show their brilliant blue in spite of this chilling weather.
