Praia Guaratuba
Praia Caiobá Resort
Fifty years ago a French developer and his son flew the materials for this building into the dense jungle without roads, I was told.
The 16-storey tall building Edifício Caiobá contained 160 holiday suites for the employees of the Bank of Brazil. A separate restaurant was built in front of it, and behind it the Hotel Caiobá.
Later the three buildings were sold separately, and the holiday suites were sold to private buyers also.
It's built in such a way, that in Summer the sun rises at one end of the building and sets at the other end, without hitting the front walls — Summers are cool, with the breezes coming in the front windows and blowing right through the apartment and out the back kitchen window.
In Winter the sun rises in front of the apartment, and with its' low circuit warms the front wall of the suites, keeping it cozy warm. Great design, I thought. Even indoors, every space is functional, IKEA could learn from it.
Well, I finally inquired of the designer/architect — it was BAUHAUS!

Praia Matinhos — fishing town near Caiobá
A great place to shop for fresh seafood — at 9am the fishing boats come in with their morning catch.
This beach has the best high swelling waves, safer than the Caiobá Praia Brava.
